Vulnerable Sectors of Society

Inequality of land ownership and insecurity of tenure is experienced most strongly by the poor, indigenous peoples and women. This emanates from a variety of causes including colonial inheritance, discrimination in both formal and customary law, political structures and processes, poverty itself, culture, tradition, and the lack of civil society values. These are all complex issues that generate resistance to change. Terradigm has experience and expertise in gender equity with respect to land rights, indigenous land claims, and linking property rights to mechanisms for poverty reduction.
