Cadastral Surveying and Mapping

Cadastral surveying and mapping, or the measurement of land areas (parcels) and property boundaries, provide the basic geospatial data and information for land administration and management. The technologies involved continue to advance rapidly with developments in GIS, GPS, high resolution remote sensing, data integration, and information technologies for processing and management of land information.

The cost of cadastral surveying can be very high and even prohibitive, depending on the degree of precision and accuracy required. It is critical, therefore, that the technologies used, and the levels of precision and accuracy desired, reflect the needs and capabilities of the local situation. Terradigm will work closely with the client agency and the user community to determine the objectives, needs, applications and strategies that will meet both the overall goals and the budgetary constraints.

Terradigm’s support includes:

  • conducting a full needs analysis
  • creation or upgrading of the geospatial framework or geodetic datum
  • setting data and mapping specifications and standards;
  • designing and costing cadastral mapping projects;
  • advising on aerial photography/remote sensing options and scale issues;
  • producing softcopy orthophoto mapping;
  • advising on Geospatial/ Geographic Information (GIT) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies;
  • providing education and training at professional and technical levels.
